U16 National Rounders Competition 13.09.13

After convincingly winning the Leicestershire U16 schools rounders tournament, Loughborough High School progressed to the national schools round on Friday 12th July. The U16 National Schools Tournament is held close to the heart of coach Miss McAndrew as she won the trophy as a student in 2006. This was the second time the school have reached this stage of the competition after entering for the first time last year and after failing to reach the quarter final last year, the team were determined to succeed this time round. Three out of three victories in the group stage of the competition progressed the team into the quarter final where they beat Durham High School 4- 2 1/2. Their toughest game was against last year’s winners Portsmouth Grammar who they narrowly beat 6-5. Siena Hayes secured us the win in the final against Manchester High School scoring the winning rounder on the 5th ball. The team played outstandingly throughout the day and were worthy winners!
