U14 runners up in Team Leicestershire County Football final 06.05.16

The Loughborough High School under 14 team played in the Team Leicestershire county final against an experienced football team  from Thomas Estley School.

Thomas Estley qualified for the final beating Catmose 10 – 0 so the LHS team knew they had a tough match ahead! However the Loughborough team were determined not to be out played by a much older, physical and more experienced team, so the girls battled hard. Thomas Estley took them by surprise in the first half, scoring three early goals.

The LHS girls took to the pitch in the second half with a point to prove, they stayed strong in defence keeping a clean sheet and played far more effective football producing numerous attempts on goal.

It finished with a good result for Loughborough;  to lose 3 – 0 to a top team such as Thomas Estley.  The girls were praised by head of Leicestershire schools football for being the first independent school to reach the final in the 78 years it has been running.

The future of football at LHS looks bright, great job girls!!
