Swimming success 20.06.12

Harriet Cooper swam very well at the Mare Nostrum International Championships in Barcelona –she qualified for an “A” final in 50m backstroke, finishing overall in 7th place and also qualified for a “B” final in 100m freestyle finishing overall in 5th place.  This was an amazing achievement – not only was it her first open international competition, but it was her very first competition that she has been able to compete in since her knee injury.

Harriet also has the opportunity to compete in the British Gas National Championships at Ponds Forge.  This is the final qualifying event for the 2012 Olympic Games and for Harriet, it will be the last opportunity for her to swim under competition conditions before representing GB in Antwerp.  The Competition runs from Wednesday 20th June to Friday 22nd June and she has reached the qualifying time for three events that take place on the Thursday and Friday.
