LHS win Science Detectives Challenge 20.05.14

A group of years 8, 9 and 10 LHS students were one team from 27 schools to enter the 3M and Loughborough Echo Young Innovators Challenge this year and went on to win the Science Detective category. Each team investigated a crime scenario staged at De Montfort University, where they had to make forensic observations, conduct basic sample analysis and collect further samples and specimens for analysis at school. They then had to develop and present a crime scene report and a lab analysis report to a panel of judges and answer questions on their thought processes, forensic and analytical observations and produce a poster summarising the conclusions and inferences drawn from their investigation.

The winners were announced at a presentation evening at the Ford College in Loughborough, where they were each presented with a framed certificate and a £50 amazon voucher and 2 iPad Air tablets and 2 Pro-Scope Mobile wireless hand-held digital microscopes for school use.
