GCSE Results 2017

‘Loughborough High School girls can, and should, feel very proud of all they have achieved in their GCSE exams. I am delighted that they have once again gained outstanding results which will allow them to go onto the next stage of their education confident that they are equipped to cope with the challenges ahead.   • GCSE students entered: 90 girls sitting 890 exams between them
  • 100% of students achieved at least 5 GCSEs with A* – C in English and Maths

Our students have once again achieved superb results. However, alongside their studying, many of them are accomplished sportswomen, actors, dancers and musicians to name a few. They have maintained schedules and training, have competed and performed in a variety of sporting, music and drama activities and have been very successful

Emanuelle Nemorin

Emmanuelle Nemorin who has recently played in the U16 national netball finals with the Charnwood Sapphires, was overjoyed today having gained 10A*/As in her GCSEs. She will be taking A levels in French, chemistry, RS and psychology.

Showjumper, Chota McDonnell gained 7A*s and 3As. She recently came 6th in the British Showjumping Championships but also acts, having played Jan in Grease earlier this year. Chota will be studying chemistry, drama, geography and politics in sixth form.

Netballer, Scarlett Langford achieved 5 A*s and 5 As and plans to take biology, maths, psychology and politics next year.

The whole family turned out to watch Netball Captain and Guides Young Leader, Georgia Barraclough open her results today. She gained 8A*s and 2As and plans to take psychology, geography, chemistry and biology at A Level with aspirations to one-day study Dentistry at university.

Amy Jones and her family were overcome with emotion on seeing her results, she gained 9A*s and 1A, alongside heavy dance and piano commitments, which is no mean feat! She will be taking French, chemistry, English and biology at A Level.

Mrs Urwin could not be prouder of Lizzie’s 10 A*s!

It was a clean sweep of 10 A*s for dancer, Lizzie Urwin. Lizzie who dances with the JK School of Dance and City Dance in Leicester, is going on to take maths, further maths, physics and Spanish at A Level. She would like to go on to study maths at university with a view to a career in finance.

East Midlands kickboxer, Eva Hinchcliffe attained 6A*s and 4As and plans to study chemistry, biology, psychology and economics in sixth form. She has also recently taken part in the Shakespeare for Schools Festival.

Not only is Abigail Brown a county swimmer, she has just gained 9 A*-B in her GCSEs. She will be carrying on her studies at A level and taking biology, psychology, geography and art.

Katie Davis achieved 10A*- B in her GCSEs today but is also a Guide Young Leader and is working hard to gain the Queen’s Gold Award alongside her commitments to her East Leake Netball club. She will be taking politics, economics, geography and maths at A level.

Prianka Lakhani’s mum, is celebrating her birthday today and said that her daughter achieving 10A*s was the best present she could have wished for! Prianka is also a talented classical Indian dancer and has combined her studies alongside training three times a week! She will be pursuing Latin, Spanish, English literature and politics at A level.

Mansi Vithlani will be studying French, Spanish, English and psychology at A Level after achieving 10A*s – C grades in her GCSEs. She also studies classical Indian dance and maintains a busy schedule. She dreams of one day working for Vogue magazine and hopes to study journalism on completion of her sixth form education.

Aditi Dabali has a very busy life! Today she found out she had attained a fantastic cleans sweep of 10 A*s for which she has studied very hard, However she has scheduled down time into her busy life and also achieved a purple belt in Karate, she is a swimmer and a badminton player. Aditi can’t decide yet whether she will eventually pursue a career in finance or medicine, so in the meantime she will be studying A levels in biology, chemistry, maths and economics.

Twins, Victoria and Chloe Zhang

Twins, Victoria and Chloe Zhang achieved 19 GCSEs between them, 18 of which were A*/A grades. These are fantastic results, but even more so when you discover that they only came to LHS in year 8, not speaking any English. They both are excellent cellists and members of the orchestra and aspire to pursue careers in either engineering or finance upon completion of sixth form.

A member of St. John’s Ambulance, Diya Kalyan, has a long term goal of pursuing a career in business or marketing so is well on the way with excellent results of 10 A*-B in her GCSEs, enabling her to study economics, psychology, Spanish and geography at A level.

Chloe Hutchinson and Georgia Purcell

Regional level gymnast and acrobat, Chloe Hutchinson achieved an amazing 10 A*-B grades and will be going on to take drama, classical civilisation, biology and chemistry at A level.

Georgia Purcell also achieved 10*-B today and has had a very hectic year alongside her studies. Not only did she have very heavy commitments as part of the Cinderella production at Loughborough Town Hall earlier in the year, she also appeared as a ballet dancer in Phantom of the Opera and is currently in Les Misérables at the Little Theatre. It is no surprise to learn that she will be studying drama, music, French and English at A Level and would like to eventually follow a career in teaching or the theatre.

Sian Kelly and mum

Sian Kelly moved to Loughborough and to the High School so that she could simultaneously continue training at a high level in badminton on the Olympic pathway as part of the England Junior Performance programme. As her family do not live close by, she has lived with a host family throughout her GCSE studies. Despite changing schools mid GCSE course and a huge amount of training, Sian has attained 9 A*-C grades and will be staying at LHS to study maths and economics alongside a sport BTech at Loughborough College. Her twin sister, Helen, is a footballer, she gained similar grades today and will be joining us for sixth form in September, combined with intense training at the Loughborough College Football Academy.

Emily Raffan is the last of five sisters to be educated at LHS, so a somewhat emotional day for her parents! Emily attained 8A*s and 2 As and will be studying A levels in maths, physics, history and RS. She is a young Guide leader and will taking part in an international trip to Taiwan next year with the Guides.

Lydia Curley is having a double celebration – it is her 16th birthday today and she has just picked up her stunning GCSE results, she achieved 9A*s and 1A grade!

Lydia is a Midlands regional hockey player and trains at the England Hockey Performance Centre. She also enjoys the dramatic arts and is working towards her grade 8 musical theatre exam. With future aspirations for a career in either Engineering or Finance, she will be studying A levels in maths, further maths. chemistry and physics.

Badminton player, Shreya Charadva’s hard work paid off today when she received an amazing set of GCSE results of 9A*s and 1A. She is looking forward to studying A levels in biology, chemistry, maths and physics.
