Mathematics
Mathematics is studied by all girls up to the end of Year 11 and is a choice at AS/A2 where the OCR specifications are followed. A number of students also choose to study Further Mathematics at AS/A2. At GCSE we follow the International GCSE course (Edexcel) which covers the vast majority of the National Curriculum Key Stage 4 together with other topics leading onto AS level. Software/interactive whiteboard/mathematical websites are used in lessons to enhance classroom learning. Students throughout the school are encouraged to enter the national mathematics challenges run by UKMT with nearly 60% of our large entry gaining a Gold, Silver or Bronze award. A team from Years 8 and 9 takes part in a national team event annually. Every year the sixth form mathematicians attend a lively conference on relevant and contemporary themes.
