Learning support is offered to all pupils with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND) with the aim that they are better able to manage their learning differences and to develop their strengths across the curriculum. Support lessons are offered during early morning or lunchtime sessions for years 7-11, and in study periods for years 12 and13. Pupils are not generally withdrawn from lessons for learning support. Additional support for other pupils (ie not SEND) who are experiencing difficulties with a particular skill, or in a subject, may also be available.
All pupils are screened for dyslexia on entry and in year 8. Screening for possible exam access arrangements is also carried out in year 9 and followed up as appropriate in year 10.
