Food
All pupils study food up to the end of Year 8 and may continue it as an option in Year 9. The focus is on various aspects of food, nutrition and health. The courses include practical sessions where students prepare a wide variety of dishes. An interest in food is encouraged and pupils learn to enjoy food preparation and realise the importance of organisation and good standards of food hygiene. The department offers CIEH Level 2 Award in Healthier Food and Special Diets in Year 9. Food and Nutrition at GCSE level and AS/A2 Home Economics where students study Society and Health, Resource Management, Nutrition and Food Production.
