LoginCareers work begins in Year 9 and continues until the girls leave school. The curriculum is delivered in timetabled PSCHE lessons. We offer guidance in making choices at the key transition stages, based on accurate, up-to-date information and awareness of the world beyond school. GCSE and AS/A2 subject choices, Higher Education applications, work experience, other training opportunities and changes in the world of work all form part of our programme. Students use the resources of a well-stocked careers library, attend lunchtime careers talks and a Careers Convention. We have a Connexions link adviser, and Year 11 pupils are encouraged to undertake work experience after GCSEs. Through our membership of ISCO all students in Year 10 join their Futurewise Scheme which entitles them to careers guidance until they are 23 years old. Former students provide us with links into their areas of study and work and we work closely with the LES Development Office and the Old Girls’ Association to develop contacts and networking opportunities.
